The Future of Education Technology Conference is held in Orlando, Florida and prices vary depending on the type of registration. Sometimes counties will get a limited amount of "expo" passes to send people to see the edtech vendors for free but do not include access to the sessions. This year, Khan Academy founder, Sal Khan will be the opening Keynote speaker. Adam Bellow, Hall Davidson, Leslie Fisher, and Kathy Schrock will be there again for TechShare Live to give the audience a first look at the latest, most exciting gadgets, apps, hardware, and software through the eyes of educational technology’s leading experts.
EdCamps have been sweeping the nation the past few years. All EdCamps follow these tenets:
FREE and open to educators of ALL levels
Participant-driven by allowing participants to collaboratively determine session topics the day of the event
Value experience by encouraging participants to facilitate sessions by sharing experiences and holding conversations, not planned presentations
Rule of Two Feet: If a session you are in is not meeting your needs, use your two feet and go to another session to maximize your learning!
My favorite EdCamp that I have attended so far is EdCamp Magic @ Windermere Prep near Orlando. Adam Bellow of BreakoutEDU has been there the past 2 years running sessions where attendees get to participate in a full BreakoutEDU game and debrief with him.
