Highly-Qualified Teacher Grant pays for Expert Systems for Teachers® Series Online Courses Subject-Specific Professional Development for K-12 Teachers
The State of Florida has established a Highly-Qualified Teacher Grant to pay for teacher’s tuition and FTCE fees (if necessary) in the Expert Systems for Teachers® Online Course Series hosted by participating universities (UF and UNF). There are over 100 subject-specific courses that allow teachers with new or unavoidable out-of-field assignments to be certified as highly-qualified. HEC has recommended its member districts accept these university courses through their Master Inservice Plans allowing the 60 hours awarded for each course to be applied to license renewal requirements. Also, for those teachers technically qualified to teach a subject yet have never taught it before, subject-specific materials and mentoring are available at a 10% discount from Teaching Point without the online component.
